Merritt Island

Merritt Island

A barrier island surrounded by the Indian and Banana Rivers, Merritt Island serves as the home of NASA's Kennedy Space Center and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, a 140,000-acre nature sanctuary.

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a great attraction where you can meet an astronaut, enjoy the automated thrills of the Shuttle Launch Experience and explore other interactive displays.

The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is a seven mile self-guided tour of impounded marshes, a visitor center, four hiking trails and the historic Haulover Canal. Enjoy kayaking tours of some of the wading bird islands!
